How to Choose a Web Hosting Service
Like just about everything else in life, the hardest part to launching a website is getting started. No worries, because we going to ease you through those difficult decisions that will have an immense impact on your website. The first decision that you should make is establishing the function of your site and its overall purpose and goals. Is it for a business, blog, for photos of your new baby? Only then can you decide what type of web hosting service will optimize your overall goals for the site.
There are a variety of different web hosting services, including: premium reseller hosting, business hosting and standard web hosting. Premium reseller web hosting is the best method to pursue if you going to resell your hosting space in increments to other customers because it will offer the space and the bandwidth needed for resell. If you are planning to build a web presence for a business or organization, then business hosting is the most intelligent choice. Business hosting packages often offer special incentives and special resource and utilities for businesses including e-commerce solutions and payment gateway solutions. If your purpose is to start a blog or a personal webpage, then standard web hosting, without any of those fancy bells and whistles, should be sufficient. Keep in mind, you can always upgrade to a better web hosting plan when your needs change and you require additional space, bandwidth or other specific offerings.
There are also various price points involved, starting with the basic web hosting plans for those without generous start-up capital. For a little more cheese, website hosting plans exist that focus on specific utilities, programs and programming languages designed specifically to suit users who want to focus on Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, PHP, MySQL, Perl and a number of other highly specialized needs. It is important to find the right web hosting company or service that will fulfill the needs and provide the tools, utilities and resources that you are looking to utilize.
Once you have established a plan for what type of web hosting service fits your budget and overall needs, the next step is to figure out which utilities, special resources and other applicable web accessories compliments the service. If you are going to blog, a WordPress hosting plan may be needed. If you are using a content management system (CMS), a Joomla hosting plan may be ideal. If business is your focus, a PHP and MySQL based hosting plan with e-commerce utilities, like osCommerce and ZenCart, will absolutely be ideal. If you haven’t figured it out by now, choosing the right hosting plan is quite important. Choosing the wrong hosting plan will not only mean lacking the utilities, tools and resources that you need, but it also will waste your time and money.
In addition to what the hosting plan offers, you also have to consider the hosting company. Choose a hosting company that offers numerous methods of communication. You should be able to reach them for questions with ease. Also take note if they have friendly customer service representatives that you feel comfortable working with in times of need. If you take in consideration the advice in choosing your web hosting service and company, you will be immensely satisfied with the hosting plan and what it offers in the end.

How to Choose the Best Web Content Writer For Your Business
Posted by Jon in Content Writing on November 22, 2009
Your website or your business works within a certain category, or niche if you want to call it that, and it caters to a specific group of people or set of customers. It has to completely connect with your site’s target audience so you can easily and effectively send your message across to these people. These messages can be in the form of a sales effort, an advertisement, or simply a review of the products or services that you are carrying. For this you need the services of an efficient web content writer who can put your ideas and messages into exact words.
Writing good copy is never easy. It is not only a skill, but also a talent that some people are just born with. Of course it can also be learned through constant practice and good guidance from writers who have the necessary skills and experience to share it with others. But the point remains that web content writing is an integral part of any online business. This is because you need to speak with your target customers and the best way to do this is to use the power of words, of which only a good web content writer can do.
What are the things or qualities that you should be looking in an effective web copy writer? Here are a few points that you might want to consider.
1. Experience
Does the writer you are interested to hire has enough web writing experience? You must understand that there is a difference between the traditional print copy writing to web site copy writing. To enumerate such differences will require another focused article so for the meantime, just make sure that your writer knows what he will be doing online.
2. Does he understand your business?
Usually it would be better if you can hire a writer who has a good background in the industry you are in. This is because he or she can easily understand the terms associated with your business and the intricacies of its inner workings. Although a writer who has no such background can also be a good choice. Why? Because he or she can provide a different perspective to your business’ message.
3. Can he actually write?
There are a lot of freelance copywriters today and sadly, a great number of them are not real writers. There are those who think that just because they can write a sentence, they can already be a copywriter. There is more to copy writing, especially online content writing, than merely good grammar and a comprehensible paragraph. Make sure your writer knows what he’s doing and how to do the job properly.
An effective web content writer possesses all of the qualities mentioned above and even more. If you are lucky, you might come across a good copywriter who does not charge too much for his or her services. When you do find one, treat him or her as a gem and as a vital member of your business.

How To Choose A Niche Topic To Build Your First Wordpress Blog
Posted by Jon in WordPress Google on October 25, 2009
Have you always been envious of those that could somehow choose a niche without almost any thought? Now you don’t have to be. I wish I had realized this process I’m about to show you earlier when I first started building websites online.
I can understand you being sceptical about how to choose a niche topic. However, you won’t be once you read what I have for you in relationship to choosing a niche topic to build your first wordpress blog around. Patience is a virtue, and for those that have been able to stay with me this far, the good stuff is coming!
What I’m about to show is how to choose a niche in a way that you haven’t been exposed to yet.
I call it the Process Of Elimination.
Let’s first explore some opportunities you might be interested in. To do this write down at least 10 things you are interested in doing as an online business on a piece of paper. By doing this you getting your ideas out of your head and on something you can work with. That’s the first step.
Next, start breaking down the list you just wrote to 5. You see how this works yet?
Now with the remanding 5, break that down to 3.
With only 3 remaining now all you have to do is choose one of the 3.
Do you see how the Process Of Elimination works now?
I found this process really helpful and easy to employ because either way you look at it with the decision you make it’s a niche topic you have an interest in and spending some time on as a online business.
Now if you plan on building several niche wordpress blogs I recommend you keep that list handy so you can apply the same technique to the remainder on the list. This will help you keep on track and focused on your projects.
With so many niche topics to build a website around online it gets difficult to sometimes make a decision on which niche topic to start with first which is why I use this process above and am sharing it with you now. And it took less then an hour to do.
So what do you do next?
Keyword Research!
This is the last step of the Process Of Elimination and the most important. Why would you want to build a wordpress blog or any website for that matter if there’s no market for it. We’re building these sites for a reason and that is to make some money.
So with that said its time now to do our Keyword Research homework.
I use Googles free keyword research tool do this step. It’s easy to use and gives you some valuable stats about what people are searching for online under your selected keywords or niche topic.
Go to è https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
If your keywords or niche topic produce high search counts and lots of adwords advertisers then you’ve found yourself a profitable niche topic to start building a website or wordpress blog around. If it is the other way around, start the process above over again with your remaining niche topics you wrote down earlier.
Those are the basics of how this technique works. I could keep on going about the keyword research end of things but that’s an article within itself. Start with this first.
You’ll find after doing this a few times it gets much easier because you’ll be familiar with how the process works.
I wish you nothing but the best in your pursuit of choosing your first niche topic. I have faith that with my tips above you are going to be able to achieve it all in only less then an hour.

How to choose a Webhost
Posted by Jon in WordPress Comments on October 25, 2009
A web hosting is a service provided to the webmaster to host their website via World Wide Web (www). Web hosting companies provide a space on their server which they own and lease for use by the client for providing internet connectivity, storage and services necessary to serve files for a web site. Deciding a right web host is very important because you are going to launch your website their and should be secure enough to handle your data and information. Basically, this way you are going to host your website, put your company name, sell products and services and also interact with customers.
Trying to choose a good and reliable web host can be quite confusing for most of the people especially when there are so many web hosting sites. Make sure you have some basic idea about what you expect from a web hosting company before you choose to buy one.
Also one needs to decide that you want to start a website or a blog. If you start a website then one needs to have a good command over html, script language like php, asp, javascript, ajax etc. Also, one can use CMS (Content Management Software)The most easy one which I found is starting a blog like wordpress, blogspot, typepad etc. They come with pre-installed scripts and one just needs to edit it according to their needs.
Below I have discussed some points on how to choose a good web hosts in details:
1) Windows or Linux Hosting: If you are using PHP and MySQL to build your website then i would recommend using Linux Hosting as it is more stable and more programming scripts can be run on that. If you are using asp and .net then go for Windows Hosting. Anyway, i have found Linux Hosting comes at a cost cheaper than Windows Hosting.
2) Uptime and Downtime of Web Host: It is the most important factors when choosing a web host.
What is Uptime ? An Uptime is the time during which the website the fully operational (viewable and usable).
What is Downtime? Conversely, it is the time during which it is not functional.
So a web host should have a good uptime percentage. Generally it is told in percentage. Therefore, a web host should have an uptime guarantee of 99.5-99.99% which is realistic and considered to be very good in most cases.
3) Free or Paid Web Hosting: The thumb rule says that a web host charge fees to provide better services, customer support and superior web reliability. Whereas, a free web hosting do provide you lots of webspace but they may charge you to upgrade services and facilities. You may have limited facilities like limited databases, sub-domain, e-mail configure etc. They charge you nothing for hosting your sites on exchange of back links and ads supported pages on it. I recommend to go for paid hosting click here.
4) Look for features in Web Hosts: The most important features a good web host should have are Email Features (with anti-spam, virus filters), Programming/ Software Support, Free Website Plugins Scripts, Fantastico (Pre-Installed Scritps like wordpress, joomla, photogallery, commerce shopping cart), Sitebuilder feature to help you build your website quickly, 24 hrs customer support, Dedicated servers and SSL (Secure Socket Layer) for those who plan to run retail website online for accepting payments and exchanging of financial information, secure server is a must.
5) Check the support system: Before buying a host or domain, try mailing them asking for more information from sales department. Check how fast they reply and what technical details they provide you.
6) Beware of Cheap Web Hosting: If you want to start a business online, retail website or blogging purpose whatever may be. Don’t get fooled by cheap web hosting because you are going to start a website, try investing in a good web hosting which is having all important features discussed above with affordable prices.
7) Money back guarantee: Also try and check if the web hosting company gives you the refund facility incase you are not satisfied with the web host features and facilities. Make sure that if you are not satisfied, you can always get your money back, or at least, the unused portion of your fees. Cheap hosting companies, and even the reputable ones, are notorious for not providing refunds. If you pay them, assume your money to be gone. Make sure you they have an initial refund period if you aren’t happy.
These are some guidelines you should consider before buying a webhost. Also share your ideas in regard to this post.
